Have been told to eat 3 half cup meals and one snack if needed. All I see on this site is one cup meal. Anyone else eating half cup?

My surgeon advised 1/2 - 1 cup. In the mornings, my band feels tighter so I can get in about a 1/2 cup of something before I feel full. Otherwise, meals are about 1 cup a piece.

Just make sure you're getting in healthy, quality foods if you're only eating 1/2 cup at a time.

I eat a half cup which is 4 oz. That is what you're supposed to eat. If your hungry later on eat more. I eat every couple of hours but I do not go over 1/2 cup of food.< /p>

Everyone's surgeon is different. I suspect they may even place the bands differently, creating different sized pouches.

Do what yours says to do, regardless of what anyone else says. That's what's right for you.

(btw, my surgeon does say 1 cup or less of food per meal)

I've always been scornful of this advice, saying that I eat more than that. But the longer I get out in this journey (7 years) the more I think its probably sound. I have a slightly stretched pouch and now have issues with heartburn and pain, which may or may not be related.

Then there's the three meals a day advice, it really works with me just to ban snacking, point blank. Three meals a day and I will lose weight, guaranteed. But as a 5ft 10 person who runs every day and on three days also does an hour of vigorous weight training, can I survive on half cup meals - there's just simply no way I can do it. I'd be utterly desperately starving and it would be serious undereating for me. So I really try to keep my portions that small, so that I dont worsen the pouch, but eat five times a day instead.

However - although I dont really need to lose and have maintained for years, I'm a couple of pounds up at the moment, and I dont lose weight doing this like I do with three larger meals.

A cup is a much more satisfying amount, but it sometimes makes me feel stretched depending on what i've eaten so I play it by ear and try to stop before that point.

You should listen to your dr's advice but for the record I eat 3 oz of Protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c startch for each meal. Since I do not usually finish it all I eat it in that order.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
