Protein Shake Size?

Recommended Posts

How many ounces are your Protein Shakes post lap band? Are people making them 4, 6, or 8 ounces? I don't feel full with 4 oz. shakes so I was just curious. Do those in the green zone find that 8oz. of shake is too much? I sometimes blend in a banana as several people had suggested to me, but does this mean I should decrease the milk from one cup to a half cup? General shake advice appreciated!

Thank you for the responses! I will continue to do the 8 ounces of milk as I've been doing. I know it ends up being more than 8 ounces if I add ice or banana, but I sip it slowly, so I won't stress about it. Thanks again.

I started out with 4ozs mixing mine because I did not like them and was only drinking them because it was the right thing to do. I still only mix mine in 6 ozs and I do not mix mine in milk, I use Water. I chose not to add the extra calories and I don't do much dairy by choice it gives me gas. I get my Calcium and Vit D from supplements.< /p>

I would make up 16 oz in the morning and drink 1 oz every hour while awake (instructions of my dr). I bought a sleeve of little 1 oz medicine cups to drink it out of. I was only on Protein shakes for about 2 weeks tho - I cut them out myself when they started making me nauseous.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
