Was banded 10 days ago and was doing amazingly well. Not much pain at all and no nausea woohoo! I mean I had gas pain but in the lower left part of the stomach.

I've been walking quite a lot but in the past 2 days I have a lot of pain where the port is located. When I take deep breaths or yawn it hurts. Did I overdo it? (have to admit I walked more than 2hrs yesterday slowly but still) Anyone have that sort of pain or still do?

Also as per doc's orders I started eating scrambled eggs this morning.....well I realized that I really have to think when I eat now. I got my first stuck. Holy moly! Couldn't even talk. I was a fast eater and never really chewed (mmmm maybe the reason I got to where I required banded....ya think!? lol). Lesson learned. :)

I too was fine the first couple of days after the surgery (banded on october 11),but started having terrible pain around the port area. It hurt with every deep breath and would travel up to my shoulders. There was a period of a couple of days were I couldn't bend over to put on my socks because it hurt too much. Good news is that it only lasted a few days and glory be I was able to sneeze yesterday without pain. Hang in there it will get better, although I didn't think that a couple of days ago.

Thank goodness for your post! I feel like a whimp because I've called my Dr. twice, about 2 different things (shortness of breath=resolved, and if I was getting enough liquids in:, I wasn't.,.guzzling more) never had pain until last night! 10 days out it feels as if my port is really "heavy" and it pulls, and my side splits like the feeling when I have just walked too far.Been trying not to overdo it, hoping that's all it is? Don't wanna call the Dr again, my post op appt is Friday.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
