Problems With Gas Pain In Left Shoulder

Recommended Posts

5 days post-op & still having issues with pain in my shoulder from the lovely gas. I've done plenty of walking but the only thing that seems to make the pain go away is lying down. Heating pad helps a bit too.

I'm also not a big fan of pain meds and actually had massive nausea in the hospital from them & the anesthesia.

Help! Any suggestions?!?

It seems to get a little better with each passing day. I was hoping to go back to work Monday (sit down desk job) but at this rate I don't know if I can even pull a half day.

I've had the gas pain since day 1 post-op and that was the worst of it!!!

Thanks all for the replys. Just have tried to take it easy today. I did manage to make it to my daughters soccer game this a.m. and a quick trip to the store this afternoon. The rest of the day has been spent lying down. My shoulder started hurting @ the store so I layed down on a weight bench for a bit and it subsided. Got some weird looks but....Oh well!!!

Tonight I've had the heating pad on and off of my shoulder and broke down and took a vicodin. No nausea, and feel numb.......except for the shoulder. GO FIGURE!!!

Hello there! I was banded 10/5. Wasn't until my post op appt that I found out that left shoulder pain is actually caused by the tube running from port to band was causing irritation.

It was so painful when I bent forward that I would see stars! Lots of horror stories about people having to remove band because of it, and for a minute I thought I'd be one of them. The pain lasted for a good two weeks. Occasionally I can still feel a tingle of discomfort .

Putting heating pads on it helped a lot, ask your dr abut liquid or gel ibuprofen.

I started a thread about this very subject a while ago. The input I received may help you too. " shoulder pain- revealed" .

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
