I had my surgery on the 22nd also Diva...I too get tired so easily which is strange for me? Some shoulder pain today for the first time but not bad. Been up doing things, laundry , dishes etc which actually feels good to get around. I am very lightheaded though it seems but that will pass as I can eat a bit more.

Good Luck to you all

Sorry for butting in, but you 4 are everywhere on this site, so you must know your stuff. Would you tell me what you know about stomach and/or band erosion? I read a post today from someone who almost died and I am freakin out. She also mentioned you only get 4 to 5 problem free years with the band. My date is up in the air awaiting bcbs to certify the hospital(?). All my pre op is done. Then I read that post and ...yikes.

That seams to be the topic of the day. There are several threats going on about it with links to research and articles. I can't give you statistics but I can give you my opinion (disclaimer time: This is only my opinion & is not based on fact)

Per my doctor the main cause of erosion is patient error, ie big bites and eating too fast. When you do this the food backs up in your pouch (part above the band). The pouch hangs over the band and the band erodes into the stomach. Again my opinion only. Anyone this has happened to says that they followed the lapband rules and their band just eroded for no reason. Believe what you want.

For me, I know I have a 'foreign object' in my body and I will need to treat it correctly and maintain it as directed by my doctor. This is no different than having a pace macker or artificial limb. I am willing to take the chance with 'complications' in the future. But, I have also followed my doctors orders to the T and I try my hardest to live by the rules at all times. But that's just me.

Read the other threads and make the choice that is best for you. The band is what was best for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
