What Do You Do When You Get Stuck?

Recommended Posts

Sometimes food gets stuck in my throat and to alleviate this I stick my finger down my throat to get the food out. Is this not recommended? What else can I do on the moment? Help. Thanks!

I am getting banded in 2 weeks. Why does food get caught in your throat? I know we can't drink while we eat but if it is stuck, why can't you take a sip of Water?

When I get stuck my body takes care of it and I pb, it's only happened three times where I've pb,d so now I am so careful with the size if food that goes into my mouth. I've also experienced the stuck pain where my body pushes the food through, to help I walked around and stretched and it passed within five mins.

They say carbonated drinks work as it makes you burp and shift the food, haven't tried that yet nor do I hope I need to.

I've never heard of food getting stuck in the throat, I would ask your doctor about that. Food gets stuck above the band causing your body to produce saliva and slim trying to digest the food. The food will either go down in time or you'll pb it up. I would not recommend sticking your finger down your throat forcing vomitting (different from pb). Vomitting is one of the causes for bands to slip.

I don't pb it up. Isn't vomitting when the food has already been digested in your stomach? The food is lodged in my esophagus. This is the reason we are instructed to take smalls bites and pause in between bites.

sounds like you are having spams. You will find that some foods will do this often, like red meats, breads and things you dont chew well enough. I have not had surgery yet but I have had those problems in the past.

I just left my surgeon's office- I am regurgitating my food not vomiting- because of this they didn't give me a fill today. I need to master taking small bites and chewing thoroughly.

I am working on smaller bites and chewing things up more. I hope I have that changed by the time i have my surgery done. Plus I am working on NOT drinking when I eat to, that one it really proving to be hard for me.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
