Tap Tap....is This Thing On?

That's what I did and it was approved in three days! Call 'em! Also they can give you the approval number. My experience through this process was that the girls in the office wouldn't automatically call you with the approval either so if you want it done you have to do it yourself.

Ty I will make sure to keep on them

I am a newbie too!

Hi! I am a newbie too!

I called my insurance company and they told me 6-8 weeks by the time you go through the consults, the nutritional classes and the psych eval. Both the Dr. and the insurance company guessed early January...My consult is on Halloween.. so excited!

Good luck and please friend me if you would like, as we might be on the same type of "surgery" schedule! Would be nice to have someone at the same stage...

Ty I appreciate it...right now my records are at my surgeons just wonder how long it took to hear back after they got your records?

Hi, did you do all of the insurance required tests first? I hope you hear something soon. My surgeon submitted all my stuff last Wednesday but insurance company hasn't responded yet. I am scheduled for 11/20.

I also have tricare and it took a few times sending in the paper work, so do not give up if they turn you down. Just do what they ask and the time will fly in. Hugs

Just a thought, have you called the company to ask the status on the preauthorization? That way you know it was transmitted correctly, and what the wait time is. I did that on day 2 and they called to authorize the next morning.

I'm also a Newbie here. My scheduled date is Nov. 1st. Excited but nervous also. I have two full weeks for the full liquid diet. Does that seem like it's the norm for a pre-op diet? Getting a little nervous about the lack of nutrients for that long! Today I even felt a little dizzy...

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
