I Am On My 1St Day Of Pre-Op Diet!

Recommended Posts

I'm tired of shakes and it's only day one of the pre-op diet!

I'm on day 6 and now I want to throw up every time I smell it. Now they only had vanilla flavor....Yeah, not so good at all. 7 more days to go....

I am using EAS shakes. They are better then most Protein Powder or shakes I have ever used. I used to be on a power lifting team and believe me I have had some nasty Protein Drinks. It is odd that my surgeon said only the drinks and Water that is it. I read everywhere that people are allowed to have broth, Jello, and even small meal.

I am on day 4. Can u say super hard? It does get easier everyday, especially after getting on the scale and seeing I have lost 5lbs in 4 days. Soy Protein shakes, sugar free pudding/Popsicles/custard, LOTS of Tomato Soup, Water and crystal light. Hardest times for me are when I have to cook for the kids. I'm a good cook, I don't use recipes. Cooking without tasting just seems wrong at times.

I didn't realize you could do Tomato Soup - that's great news!!!

Just wanted to congratulate you all on beginning the lapband journey. :) I love my band and my new life. The pre op diet can be brutal (mentally and physically) but it will all be worth it in the end! Hang in there guys.

I am on day 7 of pre op - halfway done! I was prescribed Slimtime shakes - 3 a day and an additional 225 calories of low glycemic veggies.

First day I had a horrible headache. Day 5 was the worst for me as I really missed my food and had a nice long cry about it.

Things are much better now and I am hoping this next week will fly by.

Ooh I start my preop diet in two weeks so I'm not crazy for wanting to eat a steak And suck down a soda one last time lol. I am nervous about the shakes I don't know what kind to get or where to go. I was told 2 shakes a day and like a WW meal for dinner and then the day b4 surgery only liquids!! Hmm any suggestions on where to buy Protein Shakes? ? Can I go somewhere simple like Walmart or do I have to go to GNC? ? Help :) I'm getting nervous!

My preop diet was 1 scrambled egg and 2 slices of banana for bfast. shake mid morn and mid afternoon. 2 oz Protein 2 oz veggie for lunch. Same for dinner but add 2 oz fruit.

Glad it wasn't all liquids cuz it was really hard for the first 3 days.

Try some out to see what you like. Watch sugar content. Isolate Protein is better quality and absorbs better. About Time online is good . powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury is good too- also online. The chicken Soup flavor from Unjury is saving my butt post op! They also make the unflavored kind. Both real important post op when u have a hard time getting in even 400 cal!

I'm one week post op today.

Keep us post.

each surgeon requires their specific diet. mine is strictly shakes for 2 weeks and a cup of raw or steamed veggies. that's it. It's been hard the first 5 days, now I am on day 7, I have a lot more energy, started my 2 mile walks again. You get used to it. Just make sure you follow your doctor's instructions. i also bought some unflavored Protein Powder at the drug store called Beneprotein (don't know if they have it in the US) suggested that for my post-op diet. (mix it in broth, Jello, smoothies etc)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
