Hi,

I'm new on this board. Been reading you for a few days now.

I'm on a waiting list to get the Band. Don't know my date yet and still doubting if I'll do it or not.

My main concern is my look post-op.

I'm single but dating. I don't like my body now but it doesn't repulse me.

I'm scared of what I will look like and won't be able to find someone to be with.

It's kind of a supercial concern compared to all of what i will have to go through but it's the one that scares me the most.

The food, the exercise, I have control over, what I will look like, I can't decide.

Do you know any sucess stories about people who didn't need plastic surgery afterwards? Can the skin get firmer with the exercise only?

Thanks for your help

Christine :)

Hi, welcome to the group! I am from Montreal as well. Not many support groups in the city or province, so this is why I turned to this group.

My operation date is on Thursday the 18th. I am single and well, not dating at the moment. I think over the years the scars fade, but let me tell you I have pregnancy scars, so to me it's not a concern. One more, one less. I guess I will only be able to tell you in time.

Would be nice to discuss this with you if you want, just PM me.

take care

Donna

Hi sweetie a big howdy from Texas ;-) lol!! Well the olny thing I can ell you is something a teacher of mine told me once "If in doubt.. Don't" surgery is not for everybody. I'm 25, single, and not dating. Yes it scares me to have the extra skin that I will have because i'm just too big. Some pleople if they ar not that big don't have as much and can tone it up to a good point. Even if you lose weight without surgery saggin skin can happen too. Also alot of it depends on your genetics if you have good skin genes or not. If you are not completely miserable right now then maybe you should not lose the weight ( unless you are unhealthy). Me I was beyond th edge of desperation and I still have a really long way to go but i am much happier now =) Good luck and any question you have feel free to ask =)

Congrats on your surgery.

Thanks for your answer. I know a lot depends on genes. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I have about 140lbs to loose so maybe i won't have that much loose skin.

It's sure is a question of health for me and to have a better life by being more active and having better eating habits. It's a BIG step. A big change in my life but I think I have to do it. I owe it to myself to give me all the good tools to have a better life.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
