I Can't Stop Crying!

Recommended Posts

I know I'm too tight and need to go back for another unfill tomorrow (got .2 out last Tuesday) but I haven't eaten anything in almost two weeks and I feel so desperate to get some kind of nutrition amd Water doesn't even stay down so I know I'm dehydrated too. This just doesn't make since, I only have 5cc in my band and before my last fill I was at 5 and able to eat pretty much anything...

First and foremost, if you are dehydrated go to the ER.

Second, you need to realize the amount of Fluid in your band is meaningless, all that matters is how you feel. Some have tons of restriction with very little Fluid and others have no restriction with a lot of fluid. It's all dependent on your anatomy. The amount of fluid is completely irrelevant.

Seriously, go to the ER. They may even call your doc (or another bariatric surgeon) to come take some fluid out for you immediately.

Best wishes.

I called an er last week and was all but laughed at and told they don't know how to do that, plus I heard too many horror stories on here about the er which freaks me out.

I only mentioned the amount because when I was at this level 2 weeks ago I could eat normally not because I think it should be more or less

But if you go to the ER, they can hook you up to an IV to hydrate you. Then at least you'll be ok until you can call your surgeon tomorrow.

You don't have to let them touch your band, just get the necessary fluids in you to make sure you don't put your health in jeopardy.

You haven't eaten for 2 weeks and you can't drink either? Don't you think that is an emergency? I would far rather go to ER and let them help me than do nothing and risk dying from dehydration.

Missy-- I'm hearing fear from you and I understand. I agree w/elcee. You sound scared and confused and we want to help. Go to the ER. I've been through this too and my band is in great shape (4.5 yrs). You are dehydrated and your tissues are irritated. That causes swelling inside and that closes things up. You need Fluid. You probably need to get more unfilled. You need to let it rest so the swelling goes down. You will feel so much better once they take X-rays to make sure your band is OK. It is easier to know what is happening and address the causes than to guess and worry. If you wait -- you could be doing damage.

Best wishes

I concur with the ladies here. You need to go to the ER. Regardless of why you are dehydrated, you are and you need fluids. They will hook you up to an IV and give you the fluids your body needs. If its that bad, you may need more than one. Do not risk your health. It is not worth it.

I hope everything goes well. I am in a similar situation but it only started yesterday. I haven't been able to eat today due to burping. It's too painful to eat or drink (the same feeling you get when you get stuck)

I called my surgeon and he said go to the ER for unfill or if you can keep liquids down wait until Monday and go to the office.

Please let us know how everything turn out.

She took a whole cc out and said that she thinks the band is super irritated and needs a rest, hope this does the trick!

I'm so glad you went for an unfill. I'd stick to liquids for a day or so if I were you, just to give your stomach time to calm and the inflammation to go down.

Keep in touch and let us know how you are feeling!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
