Newbie In This Forum But 2 Years Post Lap Band

Recommended Posts

In the 2 years I've had the band, this is my first time on a forum to actually talk to people going through it. I'm excited! I'm down 69lbs in about 22 months! It's had its ups and downs but I would reccomend it to anyone that has some serious weight to loose! Good luck to everyone just starting out. I've been where you are and every pound is an accomplishment.

Hi, Welcome,

I am back on line after being banded for 4 years, running into some problems (vomitting, couldn't drink), being unfilled, then very small fill. I am currently on a very small fill and want to "start over." What do you successful people actually eat? do you have problems with the Pbing or whatever? how does one avoid that. If I pb, I don't feel full, just stuck and everything gets out of whack I think.

Hi, Welcome,

I am back on line after being banded for 4 years, running into some problems (vomiting, couldn't drink), being unfilled, then very small fill. I am currently on a very small fill and want to "start over." What do you successful people actually eat? do you have problems with the Pbing or whatever? how does one avoid that. Hi Linda, I guess I am what they refere to as being successful, I have lost all of my weight in just shy of two years. What do I eat;

Breakfast:

oatmeal with egg whites cooked in them for extra Protein, 1/4 cup blueberries and 2 pecan halves

OIKO yogurt or other brand of Greek yogurt

Star bucks grande skinny carmel macchito with scoop of unflavored Protein powder (This is an on the go Diane does not have time to sit down and eat breakfast)

Protein Bar (Another Diane can't take the time to eat)

Mid Morning:

Protein shake (25gms) a banana or small peeled apple

lunch

3ozs lean Protein, fish, deli meats, chicken, turkey etc.

small salad consisting of lettuce, Tomato, onion, cucumber, no cheese and only a small amount of oil and vinegar

If no salad I have some type of fresh cooked veggie about 1/4 cup

Mid afternoon snack

Protein Shake and 1 tablespoon natural Peanut Butter sometimes I may add 2 saltine crackers but only occasionally

dinner

3-4 ozs of lean protein, usually chicken, pork loin, fish or turkey

1/4 cup veggies

Evening snack: Pop Secret 100 calorie popcorn, (This is my treat and splurge, I add spray no calorie butter and some coarse ground butter)

I rarely eat bread, my starches consist of a sandwich made with a small flour tortilla grilled in a pan, an occasional slice of cracker crust pizza (very small) 1/4 cup mashed potato's, rarely eat rice or Pasta I just do not digest well and it makes me feel very full.

I try very hard to avoid any foods that upset my stomach or make me feel too full.

Potato chips and salty foods are my weakness so I try and use small amounts of nuts and popcorn as substitute. I limit these because they also can get out of hand for me. I weigh, measure and log all my meals.

Now these are my perfect days, I do occasionally eat a sweet, a mini pack of m and m's a sugar free Caramel, a tootsie roll pop, have a glass of wine or a martini but I reserve these for occasional use.

The one thing I do is count my Snacks and treats in my total daily calorie count. I am in my maintenance stage and I am trying hard to eat 1500 calories a day so I do not lose anymore weight.

Hope this helps, Diane

Thank you; that was very helpful especially about the low carbs. Can you tell me how many calories you were eating when you were trying to lose and did you ever have problems with regurgitation (and if not, how did you avoid). It sounds like you were not hungry either?

Congratuations on your remarkable success.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
