You can call your insurance too and tell them that you are scheduled for Tuesday. They usually are really nice about seeing about getting an approval IF they are going to approve.

Thanks! I am going to call them for sure tomorrow. I was told that I wouldn't get an answer before Monday which in my head just meant that no matter the outcome, I was going to have to follow my Pre-op instructions this weekend (which I have) since my surgery is scheduled for Tues. So, today I did a liquid diet and took magnesium citrate. Tomorrow will be just Clear liquids. I suppose the positive way to look at it is that it's all good prep work. And it will help me towards my goal.

Trying to find a good Protein shake still any ideas? Being banded thrus.

Atkins advantage. Mocha, cafe Carmel and strawberry are really good.

The Slim-Fast, Boost, Ensure, Adkins, and Muscle Milk have too many calories/grams of sugar and not enough protein! Unjury and Syntrax Nectar brands have really high amounts of Protein and little to no calories/grams of sugar! And they taste AWESOME!

Recommendations:

Syntrax Nectars in Double Stuffed Cookie (taste like a Cookies and cream shake. . .no after taste!)

unjury unflavored- you can mix into anything (drinks, Soups, parties, mac n' cheese, name it you can mix it in)

Doesn't change the taste our texture of foods. . . Way way to get in Protein without even thinking about it!

BTW- Syntrax Nectars have 25 calories, 0 sugars and 23 grams of Protein per serving!

Unjury has 90 calories, 0 fat and 21 grams of protein per serving!

Bummer. My surgery has been delayed after all. Likely I will no longer be a November bandster. Keeping my spirits up. Keeping busy by rescheduling everything. Best of luck to you all going in this week!

Just not approved in time. Likely because of the holiday and offices being closed.

Hello everyone well it's over, I am back home now resting in bed and walk around my place by far the gas is the biggest problem but walking to seems to help a lot. now that the gas its subsiding a little bit I can feel the port and it cuts now. If anybody is wondering this reminds me of doing way too many sit ups then a couple days after that. so far sipping broth and clear liquids is plenty. Take care everyone I'll try to update later today, I hope everyone is doing well.God bless.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
