Dealing With A Sweet Tooth

I am 3 months post op and have lost 34 lbs. I have never been much of a sweet eater, I main overate at meals. The only time I have ever craved sweets is around my monthly. After surgery things tasted to sweet and turned me off, but now the cravings have returned. It's that time of the month and I want something sweet and decadent so bad. I use to cave and go get a red velvet cupcake or a piece of cheesecake, but I feel that is totally off limits now. I have managed to refuse the craving for 3 days now, but it is killing me. I even passed up a piece of cake yesterday at work because I know I shouldn't eat it.

How do you all deal with cravings? Need a little support and advice.

  • Are you never going to have anything chocolate again?? There are no good food bad foods there is just WRONG portions . If once a month you ate a red velvet cupcake the FOOD POLICE will not arrest you

  • I do the same thing. If I want something sweet, I eat it. Just in much smaller portions than before. For example, I keep chocolate covered peanuts and Milano cookies at home. When I want something

  • Its ok to eat sweets every now and again. Just don't make it a habit and you will be fine. When I want something sweet I count it into my daily calories

I too get cravings- I have one day a week- Sunday- where I allow myself a treat (in my case that's ice cream). I definitely have to watch my portions, though. But letting myself have it on Sunday I don't do it on other days, I tell myself I can wait.

Go out and buy the hungry girl cook book by Lisa Lillian. She has low cal recipes for all sorts of yummie things! I wouldn't recommend eating them daily because it's a lot of artificial stuff! But incase of a week tooth emergency or have a craving for something fatty it's a wonderful trade off!
