Need Advice On Finding A New Band Doc

Recommended Posts

I just can't take the incompetenc of the staff at The New Program in Newport Beach, CA.

I need to find a new doctor, but I've heard it's hard to get a new doctor to care for you and your band if they didn't put it in. Does anyone have any experience or advice on finding a new band doctor?

www.oliakcenter.com Love my dr and they now see patients who had lapband done elsewhere. They are in Irvine I think every other Tuesday and in Brea the other days.

MOM OF 3, i GOT AN EMAIL BACK FROM THE pa......

Yes….it includes support groups, etc. Also, when we allow pts to come here for follow-up, we legally must also assume liability for this patient. In other words, if they have an emergency or after-hours problem, we have to see them at the hospital, or operate, or whatever is necessary. It is more than just a follow-up visit. Thanks so much for your support!!! J Hope to see you soon, Alli

iT IS $1,000 TO START AND $150 PER FILL

Thanks Holly! I sent you a private message, but I'm going to follow up on your lead. Brea is a ways to go for me, but Irvine is only about 30 minutes away. Every other Tuesday might be an issue though. Still, going to check it out. My options are fairly limited..... Thank you!

options even more limited because I don't think many dr's will see someone else's patient. My dr just started recently.

Google hospitals in your area and see which ones have a bariatric team affiliated with them. Then call them and ask if they'll take on new patients.

I'm sorry to hear you were dissatisfied with your original docs

So, I checked into it and you are right, the $1000 isn't covered by insurance. :-(

I'm going to try sticking with my doctor, but I'm very unhappy about it. Fortunately, I think I'm in the green zone, for now, and I really only need to go when I need a fill. I'm not going in for the regular check ups because of the way they are with scheduling, but those appointments are more for thier benefit, than mine. I'll go when I absolutely have to. Good news, the terrible doctor was fired after only 3 weeks, so I don't have to worry about them sticking me with him again. Thank you so much for your input and advice. It was very helpful.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
