How Fast Is The Weightloss?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering on average how fast does the weight come off once banded??? I plan on exercising and wanted to get some realistic expectations to look forward to once banded.

Each person and their weight loss is completely different. I lost weight after being banded with it completely empty. 6 weeks after my second fill I was down about 50 lbs and a year later I'm down over 100lbs. Some people lose faster than others and some people don't start loosing for a few months. Hope this is helpful!!

As jups said its really an individual thing... but for me I lost an average of 10 lbs each month for the first 20 months... Now that I am less than 20 lbs from goal its coming off slower but I am also not as strict with myself as I was to lose the first 200.

I ate 1000 calories a day and did not exercise other than walking. That may not be for everyone but it worked for me.

Good luck

As previously stated each person is different. My doctor told me the average loss is 1-2 lbs a week. You don't want to loose too fast, well maybe we do want that. What I mean is loosing too fast can be unhealthy, etc.

Just my thoughts. Good luck.

I am averaging between 2-3lbs a week now and I am 6wk post op I think for some it is harder than it has been for me so far my appetite hasn't returned yet since surgery so it's been easy to stay on track everyone is different so it's hard to say what will happen to you

as long as you are losing (and doing it the healthy way)

does it really matter how long it takes someone to lose weight??

(it didnt creep up overnight so it wont be gone overnight)

I can understand people being anxious to lose. Hell, I am averaging 16.8lbs a month and wish I could do better but realistically that is just not healthy.

I also think that the more a person has to lose, the faster it may seem in the beginning. I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised that it came off faster than I thought it would.

As the other posters above stated, everyone is different. Heck, everyone can even vary greatly from month to month. I've lost as much as 26 pounds in a month and as little as 7 pounds in a month.

Most doctors will tell you explain to lose 1-2 pounds per week after Lap Band surgery.

I agree with many of the above posts, my doctor told me that I would lose 1 to 2 pounds per week after Lap Band surgery; I am average more like 1 pound weekly (1200 calorie diet and I go to AnyTIme Fitness 5 days a week); it is S-L-O-W . . . . but steady (I feel like that turtle racing the rabbit) he he

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
