Please help me find a decent low fat butter...

Recommended Posts

:help:I just had some potatoes and put a tablespoon of butter on them. The real butter is high in saturated fat. Has anyone tried any low fat butters or butter sprays that taste good and are lower in fat/calories?? Thanks so much!!

I like I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray...zero calories. For mashed potatoes, I just open the cap and pour a little into the pan before I mash them.

Yeah Baby! I discovered spray butter and it's wonderful. You need so much less of it because more butter is spread around from spraying...just try it and you'll see. It's less than 2 bucks a bottle and I find coupons all the time. It's the answer to your question!

Land o' Lakes (I am pretty sure) also makes a light butter with canola oil. It's 60 calories to butter's usual 100 and it's pretty good.

My DH brought home Heart Smart squeeze butter...it's really tasty. I like Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray and tub, also.

Low fat butters can get dodgy. I'm an organic sort of gal so if I were looking for a low-fat butter I'd make sure it didn't have any hydrogenated or trans fats in them. Trans fats can cause all kinds of damage. Of course, I'm sure you're not going to be slathering it on everything so I'm not really sure about the kind of damage a small amount can do. I believe Benecol and Take Control butters are low in both saturated and trans fats. I can't vouch for their taste, though (I've never tried either).

My vote is for the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray, that stuff is awesome!

I think Smart Balance is the best. It has the best taste and texture out of all of them, plus has NO trans fats and also helps lower cholestral. They have one with added flax and an organic one as well. Good stuff.

I use Benecol Light. My doctor told me about it when my cholesteral was high. It is made out of plant sterols (or something like that). It brought my cholesteral down over 50 points in 6 months without any medication. I even like the taste of it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
