Bag Lunch

Recommended Posts

Am going on an outing next week. One of the requirements is to bring a bag lunch because we will be out all day. I can not eat breads and hard fruits, so what is the best things to pack so that I don't get hungry and I am not outcasted because I'm not eating with everyone else. Not very many ready to eat foods out there.

I'd take one of those small one meal tuna things that come with crackers, applesauce or make a bean salad and put it in a little container. You can use cool packs to keep this fresh. Oh, ya don't forget Water with a flavor packet.

PS why does it have to be ready made?

Make it at home and pack it. j/s

I can make it from home. Most likely what I will do. tuna sounds great. Didn't think about that. Went into panic mode and couldn't sort things out in my head. Apple sauce sits heavy in my chest for some reason. Imma see if I can find the cool packs. I live in the deserts of California so a lot of convient stuff is not available. 45 min to nearest town.

If you can't find cool pack just put ice cubes in a ziplock bag. I'd double bag it just in case of a leak.

Those tuna kits are great. I take them when I chaperone my son's field trips with his class. They come with pre-mixed tuna salad and crackers. They're perfect.

I also keep Protein Meal Replacement bars in my purse just in case I find myself in a situation I can't find any band friendly meals.

P.S.- the tuna kits don't have to be kept cool, either.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
