Soooo Nervous!

Recommended Posts

First fill is tomorrow! I was banded and plicated April 24, 2012. I have lost a total of 66 pounds since February when I began my journey. I've read so many positive and negative things alike, I am nervous for my first fill tomorrow. Does anyone have any words of encouragement? Is it truthfully painful? Eeeekkk!

Have you ever had :-

Your eyebrows waxed/threaded?

Your legs,bikini area waxed

If you have then you have willingly suffered far more pain than it takes to have a fill. A fill is generally very quick and doesn't hurt any more than when you have to get blood drawn for a blood test. A slight discomfort and then it's over.

It doesn't hurt, they usually use a numbing spray it is no big deal........

Doesn't hurt only a tiny sting when needle goes in and it's done in a minute. So just relax and you will be fine.

I remember being so nervous too! Honestly I worked myself up over nothing. It wasn't too bad. I'm a fainter so my doc knows this and he was so sweet to have a cold washcloth for my head, had the lidocaine for me to put on before I came in, plus did the shots of lidocaine. And talked to me while PA did the fill. It was way over kill. The next time I just laid there and talked to him while he did the fill. Very easy!!!!!

My doc gives me a numbing shot in my port area ( a slight sting) before doing my fill. I bruise easily so I always have a small bruised area and a little sensitivity for a couple of days.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
