Pre-Op Phase Shakes Are Killing Me!!!!

Recommended Posts

My recommendations for Protein are

1. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, I prefer the chocolate splendor & the chicken Soup flavors.

2. nectar by Syntrax, these are fruitier flavored.

If neither of those work for you the the absolute best tasting, richest, & creamiest one I've found is Chike. Chike however is not a Protein Drink. It is a high Protein Meal Replacement. It does have a few more calories than a the other two but has more protein & less calories that any of the RTD Meal Replacements I've seen

I like the chocolate flavor and the banana flavor (banana tastes like banana pudding)

All three of the above offer sample packs direct from the manufacturer so you can try then and decide which ones you like

One lat thing. Cytosport is making a clear type RTD protein I believe it's called 100% whey that is gaining a lot of popularity with sleevers. If you have a Vitamine Shoppe near you cou can get them individually from their cooler. Save your receipt, Vitamine Shoppe has a satisfaction policy. If you drink it & don't like it you can return the bottle within 7 days for a refund.

I am having my surgery with Dr Nick on the 11th and I am on the 2 week 1200 calorie pre-op diet and it is sooooo hard. If the shakes were better' date=' then it wouldn't be so bad, but it is hard to get those BA shakes down without gagging towards the end. At least the bars are somewhat tastier.

I stay hungry thoughout the day, my mind thinking of all the "good" food out there. Any suggestions on those nasty shakes? <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />[/quote']

It isn't forever. Be strong because there will be other stresses with the band. Have you tried "other" brands? My Dr. Does Not sell anything. He is board certified general surgery. I had to go on Atkins type low carb diet two weeks before getting my band I'm 7 weeks post op and had my first fill yesterday. I've lost 18 Lbs., BUT... 9 of those were Pre op. don't believe everything you read on this site. Trust your self, be aware of your body and use your sense. Every Dr. Is different, just as You are. Good luck to you. We didn't gain weight in a day, and probably not in a year. Slowly and patiently works. Not "diets" and not fads.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
