Hi Sparkling, I'm not banded yet (hopefully April 17th). From what I have read on other threads, Gas x is highly recommended, as well as heating pads. They say the bloating will go away soon. I'm so excited for you and your new beginning. I wish you much success. Take it easy and don't do too much. Just let your body have time to heal. See you on the other side.

Hi Sparkling. I have to admit, the gas is probably worse than anything else. (If you have it bad) Everyone says heating pads and gas x is the trick.

Once it lets go and starts to dissipate you just might want the bloatedness back! Keep walking and the heating pad helps to relax the tightness making burping easier with less discomfort. It goes the other way too, so enjoy. Do anything soothing, like tea, or a good book (between walks). It came as a surprise most of the time at first in the form of a semi-painful hiccup.

Welcome home and welcome to Bandland, Sparkling! I agree with everyone else's posts. The more you move around the faster you'll begin to feel better. Sounds like you're doing well. Be sure to drink as much Water as you can.. small sips though. Don't rush it, just keep consistent about drinking through the day. It's important to stay hydrated.

Keep us posted on how you're doing.

Gas is the worest!!!! The best thing is walk and the heating pad....GasX didn't do anything for me. (But that was for me) The heating pad was the best.

Good Luck - This is the worest of it!!!

I suffered terribly from gas for two weeks. One hour after cutting out dairy, I felt 90% better and have remained so ever since...

Gas X didn't do a thing for me, either! It only slightly helped after a couple weeks and I had gas in my intestines. Gas X won't help referred shoulder pain and gas pain in your abdomen. Walking and heating pads and ridding myself of fruit juices was the only thing that helped for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
