Hello :)

I've actually been a member of the forum for almost 2 years but I haven't really been on the forum since I had my band put in almost 2 years ago.

I have not used my band to its full potential at all, and have not lost but 30 or so lbs and have about 150 left to lose I'm determined to get this right and finally lose some weight. I go to see my doctor tomorrow and most likely get a fill.

I need a support group and I think that my family members need to see me putting in some effort before they are jump gonna on board again. Therefore I'm here to get some support...if y'all are up to it!

I'm looking forward to participating and finally using the tool I'm lucky enough to have!

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Ursula

Hi Ursula,

I was almost exactly in the same boat as you and have recently turned things around and lost 20 more pounds since my fill a month ago - the first in two years. Don't feel bad. My doctor said it takes some folks longer to learn how to use the tool correctly, but the good news is you still have the tool and it can be adjusted to work for you again. I sound like a broken record because I've recommended them so much, but go watch these 4 videos. They totally got me back on track and taught me how to finally use the band correctly. You can, and will turn things around. Good luck!

I'm now watching video 2 and this is outstanding! If this physician walks the talk, he's far above the kind of doctor many of us have experienced. So many posts on this site are based on lousy doctor follow up or deficient education prior to surgery. Thanks, I've bookmarked the videos myself and will recommend them as well.

Glad to see others are getting some benefit. I went through a fairly stringent education period before my surgery, but was a little confused by the whole "pouch/second stomach" thing so I never really learned exactly what was making this thing work. It was like someone switched on a switch for me after seeing these. I wish I could take credit for finding them, but they were recommended by my excellent surgeon. My doctor said that he personally has done over 500 surgeries, but this guy (Dr. O'Brien) has done over 10,000, so he understands things pretty well.

Watched all 4 videos and there are several conflicting comments and rules that are contrary to what most of us have been told. I know some bandsters and many doctors would cringe to hear it's OK to drink wine(moderation) or even drink while you eat. The placement of the band seems to be much different than I've seen in other animations. I'm sure each doctor does this differently but now I'd like to know where mine is?

All in all I received a lot of new information that I was not aware of so I would recommend this video set to anyone considering or already having the band.

I have to agree with everyone who has posted. Go back to basics as if you were to 'start' all over again. Follow the plan and I assure you will be right back on track!

We are all here for ya!

You can do it!!!!!

Oh my goodness! Watched all 4 in one sitting. I have done so much wrong. :(

I was one of those people that went to a center of excellence but received virtually no info.

Thank you so much for recommending these videos.

It was great to read your message...your level of motivation to be successful is the key to your success!

The band is such an empowering weight loss tool...and we self determine our level of success with the journey.

As you already know, this forum has so many knowledgeable participants who share their insights and best practices. Most all are here to be a support system to our fellow bandsters...others on the same journey will be able to understand your perspective and be supportive.

Best wishes for your success...

Very interesting video

This is the first doctor I have heard talking about the nerve effects. I'm so surprised I have not heard any of my docs speak about this- It's very crucial and interesting!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
