Hi! I'm 27 and decided about two months ago to get the lap band surgery. I am in the pre-op stages right now and cannot wait for surgery! I have most of my pre-op appointments in the next two weeks (nutritionist, psychologist, pulmonologist and second follow up with my surgeon).

Id love to hear some of your success stories! While I'm 100% committed to the surgery and am considered a good candidate by my surgeon, my primary care doctor has concerns and doubts about the success rate of surgery. My appointment with him was very discouraging so I'd love to hear your stories!

damn it...I had typed this really nice response and accidently clicked to a different screen and it erased. fml.

in a nutshell. band is the single best thing i have ever done for myself, by far. I dont regret it a bit, by the time you know it youll be post of basting in your own success. I cant believe its almost going to be 1 yr since Ive gotten banded and I am more than half way thru my personal goal. It took me over 2 years to get approval (primarily bc I wasnt serious about it in the beginning, once I did get serious I was done with all the requirements and approved in 7months)

Remember that its not a miracle, it takes work and effort every single day and time you think about food or eat. It is a wonderful tool that will be of great help. Statistically the avg lapband patient looses 50lbs (so ive read). Its up to you if you want to be a statistic, I decided I am not. Ive had 3 fills and do not plan on having any more because Ive gotten to a point where my food choices and exercise routine are helping me loose more weight than eating less with the band. Plus its easier. The band took me up to 60 lbs (I didnt follow the dietitian meal recommendations, just ate a lot less to avoid blockage). I believe ive lost more inches than weight and its awesome. I am a new person and enjoy working out now and eating salads! I didnt really care for them before but since they are the 1 thing that hardly gave me any blockage and I could endulge in (old habits of stuffing my face).

I hope it makes sense, sorry for the grammatical errors but I had to rewrite it .

Stay focused and fire any questions you might have my way.

Nicely stated. The band is tool... remember that! You will get out of it what you put into it.

I have been banded three years and lost 20 net pounds. Meaning, I spent the last year and a half abusing my tool. I didn't have the right restriction and abused slider foods. I thought I was smarter then the band, but turns out I ended almost back to starting weight.

Then I keep putting off getting on track. I was ashamed of failing so didn't want too see my surgeon.

In July I finally but the bullet and went to see him. I am at great restriction and mentally in the right place.

Best of luck. This site is amazing, Yesss it to your advantage.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
