So I finally had my sleep study completed - yep, sleep apnea here - and now all my doc needs is another weigh in, by September 6th. I need to lose another 4-5 pounds by then. I know it might sound miniscule, but I am just so scared I won't make it and all of this work will be for nothing. Someone tell me I can do this? That's 17 days to lose 5 more pounds.

You CAN do this!!! Stick to a game plan. Keep calories low and exercise up. Not sure if you have had your blood work done yet, but they found that my Vit D was VERY low, my weight came off slow until I got my D back into range- now it's coming off. Vit. D apprently helps with the metabolism.

You can do this - Rock IT

You can do it and you will. It won't be easy but will be very gratifying to lose 4-5 pounds in that short pre-op time. Are you on a special diet? Don't forget to exercise in any way you are able. You have done too much work to not make this final push in the prerequisites of your surgery.

Best of luck to you

Make sure you do not hav any red meat 2 days prior to that last weigh in....low sodium diet between now and then... all those little things you can do in addition to work outs, etc.

My last weigh in is Sept 6th...then it goes to insurance. The office swears I will be good to go by my 9/26 surgery date!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
