Fever 2Nd Day Post Op

Recommended Posts

So I had my surgery yesterday morning. I was in a lot of pain yesterday, but today has been better. But I've felt like I've had the chills a little bit. I took my temp and it is 100.8. I called the dr and he said to come in to his office tomorrow. But I'm still stressed for right one. Anyone gone through this?

You have done the right thing and called your Dr. He obviously thinks it is Ok for you to see him tomorrow. In the meantime keep your fluids up, rest, take your pain meds and if it gets worse go to emergency.

Hope your ok. I was told directly by my surgeon a fever of 99 or 100 is an ok thing because the body is in a healing state but anything over the 100 mark To call immediately. Good luck!

Yea I just had my surgery today. They did say if it was 100- 101 to call. I took my temp when I got home it was 100.5 so I got a cool cloth put it over my face an reclined in the recliner and took my sons liqui advil took my temp again 30 mins later it went down to 99.5 ( the children's advil is great!) just try and relax yourself and use a heating pad to break the chills maybe? And a cool cloth.. Good luck!! Update us!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
