Unfilled Band 1 Year Later Is Now To Tight

Recommended Posts

I have been banded since 4/29/2011, I have lost 70lbs. This past July I gave birth to a baby boy. Prior to my pregnancy I was filled to 2. I hit my sweet spot all was well! During my pregnancy I had no issues everything was great! 3 weeks after giving birth, I woke up on a Sunday morning with a awkward gas pain on my lower right side. I was able to eat all day sunday, all of a sudden I rushed my self to the ER because my pain was shooting across my stomach and I assumed I had something going on with my appendix! That day I was gassy and hunched over in pain! Well I was discharged they said it was a uti! The next morning my band was to tight couldn't eat! Go get .50 unfilled the next day I get completely unfilled, Thursday I get an upper gi due to the fact I haven't been able to eat all week ( lost 7lbs)! They say even with me being completely unfilled my band is to to tight!! Why such a change?? Maybe I had a gall bladder attack and it made me swell... Help I am freaking out

Yeah maybe a gallbladder attack. I'm currently dealing with that. I had a gallbladder attack on Monday and it has made my stomach swell. I only have .5cc in my band and at some times this week it was hard for even liquid to go through. I am getting my gallbladder out in about a week.

My daughter started having gall bladder problems shortly after the birth of my grandson. If they have not checked you for that, have it checked. But, whatever you do , go back to your lapband surgeon's office for advice and a check up. Bets wishes, Karen

Blip chick' date=' how long was the attack and do you still feel like you can't get liquid down?

[/quote']

The actual attack was about an hour or so but it was still painful several hours later just not as bad. I am now able to get fluids down but sometimes getting real food down doesnt work too well and gets uncomfortable. My surgeon said during a gallbladder attack it is possible for reflux to go up into the pouch area and make it all swell and told me to go on liquids til I felt better.

I am still having some trouble as well. I have been having mostly liquids this week with occasionally something solid. Sometimes it makes my stomach hurt. My lap band surgeon is on vacation this week on his honeymoon. I have an appt for a week from tomorrow to see him. I'm going to have him check my band on flouroscope at that appt to put my mind at ease. I only have .5cc in it so I wouldn't think I have much chance of it slipping. I'm thinking mine must be from my gallbladder still?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
