Struggling with Restriction

OK, I need some help!

Last Monday I got my 3rd fill...at 3.0cc's...and I really have been struggling to eat...maybe it's just in my head but it has been a challenge to figure out what will not make me PB (if that has been what is happening...slime backing up in my throat...is that a PB?)

Anyway...went to my Mom's for dinner on Sunday and my Grandma made Swiss Steak (very tender) with Mashed Potatoes...well...the Steak went down fine...the Mashed Potatoes...no go...

Went to a friends house for dinner on Saturday...Spaghetti with Meatballs and Eggplant Parmigana...the meatballs and eggplant fine...sphaghetti no go...

Last night for dinner bought a fish sandwhich and just ate the fish...that was ok...

Does this sound right to you all? Do things like potatoes normally cause problems when you have restriction? I haven't had bread for a coons age...and normally don't make potatoes for myself but I am confused!

I guess right now I feel like I'm not eating any carbs because they seem alot more difficult to get down than meat...is this right?

EESH!

Hi Jennye,

Yep, your restriction sounds a lot like the perfect level! You are still experimenting and will learn what your band does and doesn't like. I definitely have noticed a difference with Pasta after this last fill; before it wasn't a problem for me at all but now I can only have two or three bites before I'm full. So I avoid it, because I'd rather be eating something more nutrionally dense.

Now is the time to start paying attention to what your body is telling you. I found out the hard way that I too have the morning restriction so many people talk about. I wish I'd been thinking that morning before the Cereal got stuck!

Your topic header says "struggling with restriction" and I'm sure that's what it feels like. But try to think about it as "exploring" your restriction. This is exactly what the band is designed to do, and it's up to us to learn how to work with it instead of against it.

Good luck, and be careful! :P

With full restriction (I had to lessen it due to reflux) my uhh-ooh list includes:

breads, bread-like baked goods, hidden bread (as in stuffed shrimp or crab cakes), pastas, rice, raisins and dehydrated/dried anything (like my cranberries I got in Wisconsin), uncooked grains, potatoes, bananas, and I'm sure there were other things I just can't think of right now.

With my modified adjustment, I can eat very amount of most of the above.

Sue

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
