The rule for all eating is Protein first!! I got a sample meal plan book from my dietician. Here is meal plan #1 - Breakfast - - - whole wheat toast (1/4 slice), 1 scrambled egg, banana (1/4 small)

lunch - - - whole wheat toast (1/4 slice), low fat cheese (2 oz), cooked carrots (2 tbsp)

dinner - - - brown rice (2 tbsp), chicken (2oz), cooked beets (2 tbsp)

This is my stage 3 or soft diet. I will be on this type of diet for 4 weeks. After the 4 weeks then I can progress to eating regularly!! If you would like anymore info, just let me know!! Always remember Protein first!! You can do it!!

Hello there!

I am still in the full-liquids stage, but I am getting ready for FOOD! My doctor wants me to eat Protein first and then if I am hungry green veggies. So for breakfast, I have come up with these mini-quiches (no crust) that I can add veggies to. They are baked in a muffin tin so there are 12 pieces and I can vary the ingredients so I don't get burned out and my family will eat them too. You can search online for "muffin tin quiche" for different recipes. For lunch, my plan is to start off w/fish and work up to more firm meats/poultry. I think making different types of lettuce wraps is going to work for me. A fish taco, without the tortilla (maybe use wonton wrappers instead?). Baked fish seasoned and wrapped in kale. Thai lettuce wraps w/ground beef? Mini-meatloaf also made in the muffin tin (it's a perfect size).

I've tried to take things that I like to eat and lower the carb content and make it in a size that will work w/my band. I've also gotten a lot of recipe ideas from some Paleo bogs.

Good luck!

Bibi

Thank you so much SibleyNP for laying it out like that! That helps me so much! If you're on the soft foods part of your diet how do you manage whole wheat toast? Do you just munch it until it's mush in your mouth? And are bananas a good fruit to eat? I'm also trying to figure out what fruits and veggies are dos and don'ts. I know some fruits are really high in sugar like grapes, and I don't know what veggies will work with my band.

Bandedbibi! That is the most incredibly awesome sounding thing I have ever heard! Now I'll just have to learn how to NOT be lazy and start actually cooking my food. I have this thing with patience as I'm sure a lot of us do when it comes to food, when I'm hungry I want to eat NOW. But, I can pre-make them! You are a genius! WHAT KIND OF INGREDIENTS DID YOU PUT IN YOURS?! :)

Jschulgs,

Would you like me to provide you with more information on the Do's and don'ts??? I'm a nurse practitioner and I have people tell me all the time "I can't have this fruit b/c it is high in sugar or carbs." U have to realize that it is a natural sugar, a God given sugar and nothing that has processed or refined in the ingredients :)

SibleyNP seriously that would be so wonderful! I know it's natural sugars in fruits but I'd still like to steer clear of the ones with higher sugar. I would love a list! Thank you!

I am right there with you with regards to patience. I have made the quiches with bacon and blue cheese crumbles (line the tin with bacon). Other options in any combination that pleases you, shredded zucchini, mushrooms, spinach, leeks, peppers, tomatoes, ground beef, sausage...

I also got a great idea from a foodie blogger to prep food for the week in advance. That might make cooking less overwhelming. Ground beef and other Proteins could be prepared in advance for different dishes. A lot of people will make boiled eggs in advance (not me, hate them ). These are just some suggestions.

With regards to fruits and veggies, my dr. recommends green veggies and to avoid fruits and veggies that are red, orange and yellow, as they have higher sugar content. This is just while you are losing weight. Once you are ready for maintenance, you will need to learn to re-incorporate those foods.

Hope this is helpful.

Bibi

Another muffin tin recipe I make (which I got from that ***** guy show) is this:

Cook leeks and mushrooms, I add a bit of garlic to mine, season with a bit of pepper. In a muffin tin line with ham or bacon, spoon some of the leek and mushroom mixture in, break an egg on top and bake till egg is cooked, about 20 minutes. I will eat half and these are so tasty. When frying the mushroom and leeks use a nonstick pan so you don't need to add any oils or butter. I serve it up with either a small salad or steamed vegetables.

Don't know how to start a new thread via my iPhone so will put the info in here.

Sparks people have an iPhone app that is free for healthy recipes. Many band friendly recipes also and gives nutritional breakdowns if any of you are interested in it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
