Strange Feeling After Eating

Recommended Posts

I am perplexed. Today is my first day of eating real food. I feel hunger pain. I eat some pretty descent size portions, but even after eating still feel hunger pain. I never had that even before the surgery. My problem prior to the surgery wasn't as that it took alot to satisfy me. The problem was I kept eating because it taste good. Also, what's with the weird feeling in my side after eating?

eating pretty decent size portions and continue to eat because it tastes good is not a good thing. the band eventually will help how much you can eat but its up to you now to use Portion Control. just because you are able to eat alot, does not mean you should.

I was banded over a week ago. I am not eating just because I can. I am eating descent size portions but feeling hunger while eating and even for awhile after and just grinning and bearing it. I thought for the first couple of weeks there was swelling that gave some restriction. I am just not used to feeling hunger before, during, and after eating.

Everyone is different, and while some do have decreased hunger after surgery, some are very hungry. Let's face it, liquids just don't help you feel satisfied most of the time.

Also, keep in mind it's not uncommon for your tummy to make hunger noises without being actually hungry after being banded. It's bit weird trying to figure out what you're feeling at times.

Hang in there :)

Thanks. It did go away after awhile. Just getting used to it all I guess. I lost 21 lbs since the surgery and just really don't want to gain it back.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
