First Fill Went Ok!

Recommended Posts

Hi All! Well after much fear and worry, I had my first fill of 1.3cc's with no problem at all. Dory Ferraro (the fill NP in NYC) was GREAT. She found it on the very first try which was awesome. It literally took about 1 minute to do and wasn't painful at all-- she didn't even use local and I'm a HUGE BABY when it comes to pain. Unfortunately, when I weighed in I was up 5 pounds from a few weeks ago so I'll have to update my signature. I'm so happy to finally be on the road to weight loss -- have an unfilled band is so incredibly frustrating! Plus it doesn't help that my evil mother says to me today, "oh good, I'm glad you finally got the adjustment because I was so depressed when I saw you last weekend and you hadn't lost anything." :angry

She knocked the wind right out of me with that one but I'm not going to let her bring me down if it kills me!!!

Anyway, thanks to everyone for answering all my questions and please send good vibes my way. Thanks!!!

suzanne

Slow and steady loss is probably much healthier, anyway - you're still well on your way. Dr. Fox mentioned at my first fill (and I had already found this out) ".. as far as alcohol, you ALWAYS have an empty stomach now". His nutritionist also mentioned that I would now be cheap date. How true.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
