Youngster Bandster??

Recommended Posts

Hey there

I just turned 30 in April. I wish I had the courage to make the decision to be banded sooner in life. My highest weight was 272.

I am 27 I started at 366, I'm 2 months post op and I am at 335 as of this morning. I'm losing slowly but I'm losing and to me that's all that matters. I too wish I would have done this at an earlier age but I'm happy I finally did something to take control. I cant wait to get out of the 300's!! Good luck with your journey. You will do great and remember slow and steady wins the race!! :)

I posted some of this before but want to again. When I was 23 in 1979 there was no lap band. Bonnie and the rest of you who responded are really brave to take control of your life while you're in your 20s or so. No need to be embarassed shy about it because we have all been there before. Good luck!

I'm 26, banded at 25. My highest (non pregnant weight) was 268. My dr has banded teenagers, I promise we aren't the youngest!

Please don't worry about being embarrassed in this forum. This is a "safe zone" and one that I have found offers tons of support and encouragement. Everyone I have talked to along the way while I was making my decision told me they wished they would have done it sooner as they are so much healthier and happier. Good for you for taking control of it now and not letting more time get away from you. I have been very heavy throughout my kids' lives and feel bad that I am now losing the weight so late in their lives where I could have been more active with them and not the "tired" mom many times. Plus, I avoided many situations by feeling embarrassed to go places. Good for you!!!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
