Getting Back On Track!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I haven't been on these boards for quite some time. Right now I would just like to vent and get myself back on track. I was banded in 4/09. I HAD dropped 90 lbs. Right now I have gained back 10 lbs. due to my own carelessness and also with some health problems that my husband has. I have my next drs. appt in august and can't wait to get a fill. My problem is that I love any kind of cheese and eat lots of it and also my ice cream at night. I have stopped eating the ice cream and have cut back on the cheeses. My main meal is dinner. A lot of my meals are frozen like Stouffer's mac and cheese also I like Groton's Butterfly shrimp. I do make chicken thighs and cutlets and sometimes pork chops. I think I don't have enough of a variety and also I make some bad choices. I started doing my treadmill and the air walker which I really like. In one year I had 2 knee replacements and 1 hip. Now I can walk anywhere and all day long and have now pain whatsoever. I still need to lose about 50 lbs. and I know that I can do that.

So I just want to say thank you for letting me get things off my chest and I now feel that I am going to start making better food choices and exercising.

hey, that is fantastic, you started over today. you admitted what you realized was wrong. accept it and move on from that. dont regret the past, we cant change it. but you can (and will) change the future.

all the best :)

Good for you for recognizing the problem, and now fixing it! So many times, we put ourselves into denial and chalk it up to life...but really, we control our own lives!

One healthy decision at a time....you'll get there!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
