Wow, I Really Saw It Today!

Recommended Posts

This evening I went to the local pizza joint to pick up some food for my family, I really didnt want to cook for everyone, lazy day! This food had nothing to do with me as I cannot even eat at a pizza place, as I am a Celiac also, that would just be really bad! Anyway, while the long wait commenced.. I was watching the people sitting down that were eating. I noticed something so very different for the first time, "regular" people just dont attack food the way I do! They eat normally. At a slower pace. I couldnt believe my eyes! I read a previous post on here about this "phenom" but I have never seen it actually in play. People take time to enjoy food. A woman ate two slices of pizza, slowly and enjoyed her bites. If I could have eaten that I would have gobbled down that in a quarter the time. I am still new and working on learning to chew (which is getting better) and to SLOW down the whole eating process!

This is just showing me how much my relation to food is messed up! I never realized before why I had the problems with food that I do, besides just being a foodie!

I really need to take time to get to a nutrionist to get a diet that is going to work with me on this band! My nutrionist that I saw before the surgery was inept to say the least and I am swimming out of Water here trying to figure out how much and what I should eat.

Thanks for listening to me ramble...

Different surgeons have different instructions...and I definitely agree that to consult with a dietitian would be time and money well spent.

Basically, I was advised that every meal has 3 oz of lean Protein and 2 oz of a Fiber carb...this is measured by volume after the food is cooked. I was given an entire manual from my surgeon's office which outlined acceptable food choices through every pre op through achieving maintenance stage.

I know what you mean. I now pay attention to other people eating. My husband, whom I love dearly, grosses me out when he eats. He smacks and Chomps and shovels it in, I can't believe he is even tasting anything. I dont like eating wirh him.

Seeing other peoples plates is a real eye-opener......its amazing how much people rely on their eyes to determine what they think they need to put in their otummies.

And he can't believe I take so long to eat. He is done before I'm halfway through my meal.

I now prefer to eat by myself, where I can enjoy the silence and pay attention to my eating.

I agree w you. My dietician gave me a list that was confusing and she was in such a rush. Maybe working w a nutitritionist would help me. L

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
