Has Anyone Had Gallbladder Problems?

Recommended Posts

My stomach has been super sensitive lately. (have had problems for years though) and they don't know if it is an ulcer or my gallbladder. I am going for more tests (ultrasound tomorrow) but I was wondering if there was any symptoms anyone, else has gone through?

Mine: sensitive stomach

Nausea

Loss of appetite (which hey not so bad on this one)

Stabbing pains in my right side after eating

And I am exhausted all the time

And just a pain ol' feeling like crap 24/7

A gal I know just had her gallbladder removed today. She had gastric approx 1.5 years ago, and it came to the point where she suffered pain after eating and other common issues. I would say get it checked out anyways, you never know what it could be.

Back in April, I ended up in the hospital with what was diagnosed after the fact as a mild case of pancreatitis...and if mine was a mild case, I pray I never have a more significant episode. That resulted in a series of tests(abdominal ultrasound, MRI, HIDA). After a number of tests, ending with the HIDA scan, it was determined that my gall bladder is not working...at all.

My symptoms were atypical for gallbladder...as I was experiencing problems with my pancreas. There is a relationship between the two, and if the gallbladder is not healthy, the pancreas may become inflamed as a result. In addition to the severe left side pain, I had waves of nausea, and my enzyme levels were not normal.

Gall bladder pain may be a "referred" pain...where you experience the pain is not the point of origin for the pain. It is also common for gallbladder disease to be discovered when an individual has lost a significant amount of weight.

Though I have been advised to have my gall bladder removed, I have decided to do some "watchful waiting", and see what happens. No one has any idea when my gall bladder stopped working...and I really don't want to have a third abdominal surgery in less than a year.

Like you, I experience some tolerable pain, waves of nausea, and my stomach does hurt from time to time. Based on your symptoms, I would want to have my physician evaluate the problems.

The real issue for me is that not everyone who has their gallbladder removed has relief from the gall bladder related symptoms. The odds are definitely in your favor to feel better, but like all surgical procedures, there are some risks and possibilities of complications. I just don't feel ready to have any additional surgery unless it is deemed essential. My general surgeon was alright with me waiting to see how I feel in a few weeks or months.

Best wishes...I hope we both feel better!

My gall bladder also just stopped working. I had to have it removed due to the intense pain. That surgery was a lot easier than the banding. I have felt a lot better since it was remove

Years ago, my mom refused to have her galbladder checked. She waited until a stone was lodged and almost killed her. I would not wait. I was a terrified four year old when it happened.

When I had gallstones I vomited everytime I ate. I also left mine alone, I was 20 without health insurance. Once I worked long to have the insurance I started vomiting to the point that my vomit was coming from my intestents. Don't mess with it! If have stones get it out.

That is my two cents.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
