So my surgery was 5 days ago. I was provided the little med cups to pour my drinks into to make sure I drank slow enough. How long do I need to only drink a tablespoon at a time? I have been having Soup and can finish about 3/4 cup in an hour and a half to two hours?

Thanks.

I was banded on Friday, 6th. I dont have a small cup nor have I ever read about it. I just drink normally. I have noticed that today and a bit yesterday, it has started to hurt when I do forget and gulp. Hope this helps

sipping is going to be a big challenge for me once I am banded. I am sooo worried I am going to screw this up! I already went out and purchased the little 3 ounce plastic cups so I measure everything.

I am a gulper and drink tons of Water now (over a gallon a day). but I don't drink anything else, no coffee, or tea. nothing but Water.< /p>

ohh and the waiting to drink after eatting, I have NOOO clue how I am going to do this. I try doing it now to test myself, and i only last 5 minutes. blah!

Calm down, you can do it. If I can do it anyone can. I am 4 weeks post op tomorrow and before surgery I was a BIG drinker (not alcohol) water, nothing but water, had crystal lite in it but water. Probaby a gallon a day like you. But since surgery you just tell yourself you have to do this. Now on some of my days I get thirsty after a meal and I cannot wait till my hour to hour and half is up and drink but most of the time I eat fish and veggies and I am not thirsty. It will all work out for you, I promise. Like I said, if I can do it you can to.

I also thought the drinking would be a huge issue for me. My nutritionist recommended starting not drinking with my meals about a month before surgery. I always used to have a huge cup of ice water with me when I'd eat and I'd intermittently bite and drink.

After actively practicing not drinking, it is second nature. It's a matter of pulling off the bandaid and just doing it.

PS: I am also able to drink water how I used to. I have 4.5cc in my band and haven't been forced to slow down. I drink out of a CamelBak 33oz bottle and love the bite straw.

True Results have changed their band on drinking while eating. My doctor told me about 1 week before my op that they did tests and found out it did not hurt to drink sparingly during meals and also before or after.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
