2.5 years post op here. I hadn't had a fill in over a year, but started noticing my portions getting bigger & I hadn't lost, but gained a few lbs.etc. So I got one and have lost another 10 lbs. I do notice some burping and "slimming" if I don't chew chew chew. But if it is too uncomfortable, please call your doctor. You may need to have a small amount withdrawn. I had a problem at one point with sticking and they took out like .25 cc and it made a BIG difference. As I said I have these problem still if I don't CHEW CHEW CHEW small amounts at a time.

Everyone's anatomy is different so I don't know how many fills it will take for you feel restriction, however once you do have restriction you will most likely notice the difference. You will have to be more conscious of taking really small bites of food, chewing until mush, and pausing between bites. Most people learn this the hard way. We think we're taking small enough bites then suddenly find ourselves stuck or PBing back our food. It's happened to me more than a few times.

Btw, you should never be vomiting from the band. PBing is different than vomiting, it's not forceful, it's food just burped back up. Vomiting is forceful and can lead to slips.

You may be one of the lucky ones who never get stuck or PB even with good restriction, but only time will tell if that's the case of not. Quite honestly, I've never known anyone with the band who's not been stuck at least once.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
