Need Help With Protein Shakes

Recommended Posts

Is there a consensus out there on what is the best tasting and best Protein Shake available for both the ready made ones and the powder mixes?

Also, for my Stage 2 Diet (Week 2) it says to add Protein Powder to all low Protein liquids. Could anyone suggest what protein powder they use?

Lastly, does it matter if I make my shakes with skim milk or should it be with only Water or ice?

Thanks!

Everyone is different, however the only one I genuinely like is unjury. I have the chocolate splendor for Breakfast every morning. They also sell an unflavored powder you can mix with other stuff.

I mix mine with skim milk because it's extra nutrients and Protein

Unjury is only available online: http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/

I liked core power chocolate - it's a premade shake. I have yet to find a powder I love. I mixed my powder with skim milk to get more Protein. My doctor/dietician recommend a skim milk from HEB (I don't know where you live and if you have HEB there) called mootopia because it's fat free, lactose free, and has extra protein (12g for a serving), plus its really tasty since its a little Creamer than regular skim milk due to the extra protein. Hope this helps!

Choose your Protein powder based on taste and nutrition,,,I was advised to use only 100% whey Isolate Protein shakes, and like the Wheybolic Extreme from GNC. I find that the shakes taste better if mixed with milk...and you can throw an ice cube or 2 into the blender to make the shake thicker.

I've not yet discovered a ready mixed shake which has the same nutritional value as Protein powders, but the Atkins premixed shakes seem to have a fair amount of protein (though it is not all whey protein), and to me are more palatable than most I have tried.

I haven't found a ready-mixed shake that was as affordable as a powder that you mix yourself. Besides, I like to experiment with mine. It's just more fun that way! ;)

Thanks so much for sharing! The responses have definitely steered me in the right direction. I am looking forward to start taste testing.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
