Getting stuck for me ....is eating and all of a sudden feeling a tight feeling in the centre of my chest between the breast bone....bread for me is one of those foods that gets 'stuck' for me....the bread goes down fast then I get a tight feeling in my chest....pain....if I don't vomit....the pain stays ...then you feel the bread move down slowly and the pain goes......I can physically feel the bread move

Don't confuse "Stuck" with "full". Similar feeling, but different things happening. If you are sighing alot, or hiccuping, you are full. If you are expieriencing any pain in the area right between you breasts (yes, men have them too), then you are probably stuck. This helps me alot, picture your upper pouch not as a small stomach, but a funnel. When something blocks the funnel, whether it is because your lower stomach is full or because something to big cannot go thru, it feels very different. Excruciating pain is involved when you are stuck. If you can't breathe, I don't know what that is, you need to ask your DR.

Either! :( I feel both at different times! Sometimes I get the pains and sometime I get the "can't breathe" feeling.

The esophagus and the trachea are two separate parts, therefore unless you aspirate your food, you will be able to breathe regardless of what food is "stuck" in your esophagus or pouch.

It's because you are eating to fast. Slow down and take smaller bites and don't drink

anything until you have finished eating. Wait about 15 minutes then drink all you want.

The best advice I ever got is to chew. Trying to swallow things that are too large will cause pain.

when i get stuck i get pain/discomfort in my pouch. it feels just like the food is being tossed around/churned like a washing machine. i get more saliva in my mouth ... eventually i cough up some slime. the slime is created by the stomach to help pass the food through the band. its not a nice feeling at all... but i have to say, in my experience ive not had difficulties in breathing.. perhaps others have here? i do get some pain through to the back as well if its bad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
