A question for after surgery

Recommended Posts

There is an old saying in the nursing field that "Cardiologists and Neurologists Think They Sit In The Right Hand Of God". The rest of the Jerky doctors are scrambling for a spot in the left hand. Yes, a lot of them are jerks. I like my cariologist, but when it comes to my scar and the pain it causes me he brushes it off. It's embarrassing to be out in public five years post-op and have an itch between your boobs, and it never stops itching. I asked him if I should consider plastic surgery and he said "if anyone gets that close they aren't really going to care about the scar"....so much for sympathy. I have huge scars on both upper legs as they couldn't find enough veins in one leg for the bypass. I do believe the janitor stitched them as well. Although they healed, they are ugly to the max and if I lost 100 lbs. I'd never wear a bathing suit because of them. They border on grotesque.

I have to second the slip-on shoes. I wore these butt ugly but totally comfortable shoes called Crocs everywhere I went for the first week. Heck, I have them on today with my jeans. I don't even know where my tennis shoes are. :)

(And thanks, Morsaille - I'm down 39# as of this a.m. but I don't know how I know that, because I'm certainly not weighing myself compulsively :) )

I just got my summer sandals from Crocs in the mail. They are cute as all get out. Because they have an open toe they don't have the big wide foot (like Sasquatch) on them. I'm going to order some more at Zappos.com. I like the Metro style. I live in either my Crocs or Birkies.:hititbanana:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
