The doctor that preformed my surgery said that the name of my lapband is an Allergen 4cc band. I am thinking that the band is Allergen, and that I can only be filled up to 4cc's ? Am I correct ? Can someone help clerify this for me before Monday, if not I will ask him on Monday. Thanks

I have an Allergen 10cc band, I have heard they also have the 14cc like Ric has. My 10cc is filled to 7cc now. It might be possible that when they did the surgery he might have filled you with 4cc at the time of surgery which which I have heard of happening with many surgeons.

Hope this helps

That would be an older model band. Are you going to Mexico by chance to have it done? If so, I would seriously reconsider that band. There has been a voluntary recall of 4cc bands by Allergan:

There is an Allergan 4cc band and it only holds 4cc of Fluid. I have the 10cc band.

The 4cc is definitely the older band. I know a lot of people that have this band and have had lots of success. Most of them were able to achieve restriction sooner than a lot of us seem to be able to with the new larger band.

However as the band has now been updated there would be no reason to use this band unless the Dr was trying to get rid of old stock(generally in Mexico). I don't know about you but i would want to make sure that whatever they put into me was the newest most up to date version.

Thanks I think maybe i have a 4 cc band because in 2004 i had gastric bypass. I have not lost as much weight that i wanted too. So i decided to get the lapband to help take the extra few pounds off. Thanks

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
