What Nsv's (Non-Scale Victories) Are You Looking Forward To?

Recommended Posts

I have so many, but one of the main ones (that I experienced today) is not getting a painful rash on my inner thighs from them rubbing against each other when I walk. Especially in the heat, when I am wearing a skirt with no stockings! Ugh!!

What are you looking forward to?

My job requires a dress code of tan pants, navyblue pullover shirt, and a belt so the shirt is tucked in. I am the store manger so the dress code is a must. I cannot wait to tuck in my shirt without all my fat showing! That is one reason I got the lap band. Doing good. I was banded June 4th this year. I also agree about the rashes.

Fitting into regular sized Wrangler jeans was a non-scale victory for me- I hated those elastic waist blue denim fakes from the Plus section. The day I wiggled into a pair of size 15 Wranglers I was a happy woman. Now my 11s are loose and I am thinking about (GASP!) springing the dough for a (GASP LOUDER) size 9.

Other biggies:

my sleep apnea disappeared and I gave up the nightly oxygen.

I can slide through the pass gap in the fence instead of having to open the gate.

The inside of my upper thighs don't chafe anymore- they don't even touch!

I can sit and pull my knees up to my chest without gasping for breath.

My wedding ring fits again (actually it is too loose, but close enough!)

And the biggest and most recent: my husband took a picture of me and a friend who is a professional dancer and I did not look like a whale next to her! I thought I was half again her size even now, but I'm not. I look normal!

  • I look forward to not having to order my bras online because stores don't sell my size.
  • I look forward to embarrassing my son by what I say, not by how I look.
  • I look forward to sit comfortably in theater/airplane/stadium seats.
  • I look forward to no having my feet & back ache from carrying 100 lbs of extra weight.

Due to circumstances, I walked through town this morning wearing my cycling lycra and I didn't feel self conscious at all!

Oh, and then I rode 64km (40miles) :P

Oh I so can't wait until my thighs don't bleed from the rubbing. You should be so proud.

Love that one! For me it was the day I realized that the plus sizes where too big and I shopped in the misses department. First time since high school (46 yrs old).

I agree with all y'all!! My biggest determination.......and my hold my breath moment.....will be looking sexy as hell in my cowgirl boots!!! Not being so insecure about getting on the dance floor and people starring at me because I'm knocking them out with my American thighs....not because I'm the biggest girl out there!!! That will be my moment!!! July 10th can't be here soon enough!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
