i havent had a fill yet (not sure if i will get one until august)

with the plication as well as the band, does it make a difference?

but how much do they put in the first time?

is there a set (amount)?

what do they base it on?

do you feel sick to your stomach afterwards?

can you request very small amounts instead of 1 or 2 cc's?

appreciate any/all feedback as this is an area i haven't had the chance

to go and visit, but its (coming)

I don't know how the plication aspect affects fills. Will be interested to hear what your experience is.

1. but how much do they put in the first time? Depends on your surgeon's protocol & your band size, plus more (see question #3)

2. is there a set (amount)? Not that I've ever heard of.

3. what do they base it on? Your weight loss, your symptoms/side effects (if any), what and how much you're able to eat, and how long your meals keep you satisfied (in terms of physical hunger).

4. do you feel sick to your stomach afterwards? If you mean do you feel nauseated, no, I never did. Other than my reaction to the general anesthesia, nothing related to my band ever made me feel nauseated. Eating mistakes occasionally made me PB, but that's not the same as vomiting and I experienced no nausea.

5. can you request very small amounts instead of 1 or 2 cc's? Sure. Your surgeon may have other ideas about appropriate fill level amounts. If you're not comfortable with a fill amount he wants to use, tell him. Presumably he'll be willing/able to explain why he feels that amount is appropriate.

I got my 3rd fill today and she gave me my choice of .5 cc or 1cc. I already had 6cc so she didn't want to go anymore then 1 full cc. Slow is good. Like Jean said on #1 every doctor has their own way of doing things.

With the 3 fills I have had so far I had no issues, no sickness or nausea. It was easier then giving blood in my opinion.

Today she basically asked me how I have been feeling and how long it takes me to get hungry between meals and whether or not I have been snacking. I told her I found myself getting hungry about every 3.5 hours without snacking. In regards to the previous fill it seemed really good the first week but the next it seemed like it loosened up a bit. So with that she said good our goal is to get that first week feeling to last at least 4 weeks. So she offered me a choice of .5 cc or 1cc. I chose 1cc.

I've only had one fill to date, and will get my second in 2 weeks. I was given my choice of 3 or 4 cc for the first fill, and chose to be conservative with 3. Every doctor has their own approach to the amount of Fluid and how often they will do a fill. The amount added does depend in part on how long after a meal you begin to get hungry.

My doctor will only do fills 6 weeks apart. I felt no nausea or any discomfort after the fill... in fact I had to remind myself that it had been done, with the exception that I did initially feel some restriction while eating.

You will do fine, and appreciate the assistance the fill gives with managing your appetite.

I would wait another week, depending on how quickly you can get fill appointments. I've had fills that took 2 weeks to kick in.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
