Need A Mentor!

Recommended Posts

Surgery on 7/10. Austin Tx area. I am looking for someone to help with encouragement, kind words and who has "been there, done that". I am starting to get nervous! What if I fail? After all that's why I need Lapband.....all other diets have failed. *sigh*.

Relax. Most of us all felt the same way. But soon after surgery I saw that I won't fail. There was a topic yesterday about leaving our old relationship with food behind us and how difficult a decision that was. Here it is, read some of the posts, it should reduce some of your fears.

Hey neighbor, I'm in Georgetown, work in Austin. I was banded in February. Don't think of this as a diet that you can fail at. This is a lifestyle change. There will be ups and downs just like everything else in life. It will be a learning curve but you will do great. Just relax and focus on healing after surgery. I am still new at this myself, if you follow the 8 golden rules you will be fine.

You can email me: ajtexas0@gmail and if you use myfitnesspal then add me as a friend: ajtexas0.

Did you go through True Results in north Austin?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
