First Fill Is In Monday And Have Some Questions

Recommended Posts

I'm having my first fill on Monday and I was wondering what was a good starting fill, how many Cc's? I am a a about five minths post op and have lost a good bit of weight but I can tell I need a fill. Also after a fill how long are you on liquids and before going for my fill is there any diet restrictions. I'm a little nnervous because I don't way to be overr filled and I don't want to be under filled..I just way everything to go smoothly. So anyone who can answer some of these questions wwould be greatly appreciated. Thanks, monica

I am 1 month post op. I had my first fill on Wednesday. They gave me 1 cc which they told me is standard for a first fill. I was on soft food for 2 days. I feel more restriction, but I've heard sometimes it can take several weeks to take effect. Good luck on Monday!

I also had my first fill on wed. My Dr put in 2.5cc, the max this time they would have put in was 3.

Each doctor is different, so each will have a different idea of how much should be put in at each fill. Sounds like you are doing awesome even without a fill, so I can't imagine your Dr would be too aggressive.

I was on full liquids for 2 days, now on soft foods for 1 day, then advance as tolerated.

Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for your replys. I started on a NW medicine thar unfortunately makes the hunger signals iin your brain go off all theyime and slows your metabolism so that's why I've decided to get a fill...hopefully if I can eat less and not take in as many calories as I do just eating healthy it will help me get back to losing again..since the pill slows your metabolic rate down..eating less would Make it easier to lose. Right now I can eat a normal amount of food and had just been choosing healthy foods and that's how ive lost my wait so far..but since staring this medicine I think a fill is why I need in order to keep me under 1200 calories... I have to fight the hunger more than Ever now....I never thought medication could do that but apparently it can. But anyway I'm hoping from 2-3 ccs but what ever the doctor orders is what ill take lol. Thanks to evryone for your advice and input

Did you get a fill during surgery? My first fill (empty at surgery) was 3 cc's. My doctor says full liquids first 24 hours after surgery and then 24 hours mushies.

So I am wondering do you have to do anything the day before your fill?

Nope. Your doc may have you on liquids after your fill, but every doc is different. You don't usually have to do anything before.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
