If You Have To Vomit, Do You Lose Your Calories?

Recommended Posts

When you PB does it do it all by itself? Or do you have to make your self burp? (I don't know how to do that)

I am gettig banded on Wed. I am sure at some point or another I will have this happen.

Thanks for the info, Cordelia! The immune system does this in a lot of instances: allergic reactions, illness, etc. As a lifelong allergic asthmatic I am unfortunately well acquainted with this phenomenon...

Unfortunately, I've gained about 15 lbs since then due to a pretty lax restriction.

It's just a setback. Just keep it up and you'll get there! :)

I get this too, it's mainly phlem it's no biggie, 9 times out of 10 that's all I bring up, sometimes the food just has to shift to move through

Thanks Brenty. I'm so anxious to go to the dr. I feel myself spiraling back into depression again and i don't want that. The 12th can't get here quick enough!

It looks like the forum saw 'vomit' mentioned and decided to get in on the action. :P

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
