Sure sounds like Bandster Hell to me? Bandster Hell definition: The surgeon puts very little saline in your band at surgery because the next 30 days are a time of healing so the less saline' date=' the less restriction. Usually 2-3 weeks out you seem to be very hungry, and for some of us, hungrier than pre surgery. There may not be any restriction so the bandster can eat as they did before surgery. And unless he/she can find a way to eat nutritious food and stay away from candy you will gain weight.

For me, BH lasted 4 months until fill #3 gave me some restriction. I lost 12 lbs the first 2 weeks and not a pound gained or lost the next 4 months.

Now is a time for you to start to learn how to eat with the band. Start by making better food choices. Food scales are inexpensive, buy one. 4 oz of chicken would fit in the palm of your hand. Go online and sign up for myfitnesspal and track your food. If you don't track this stuff or understand food measurements you could be in big trouble.

The band is a tool but it requires a lot of work and understanding on your part.

TMF, I started logging my food & I'm way under the calories in the tool. Should I be worried?

I'm always under too but have lost 19lbs since may 31st. You know what the problem is with any bariatric surgery, it doesn't change your mind!! As an over weight person I always ate when I wasn't hungry, it could've been boredom or any other number of things. This is the issue that I have. I try to set my mind to having a new lifestyle and with that comes good and bad days. Over the weekend I went fof a 3 mile walk and then my husband brought home a pepperoni pizza. I wanted to eat the whole box but instead I cut myself a half of a slice. I really regretted it and felt terrible afterwards but what can u do, we are human. I don't think the half a slice set me back nor do I think the chic coveted raisins set u back either!!! Dont worry we will get there

Worried? About what? I just went through a 2 week plateau myself. And, I was eating 800 calories a day, exercising 7 hours a week and then I went back to 1200 calories a day. Bam, in 3 days I lost 4 lbs. It's so wierd how this works. I"m sure I didn't lose it over three days but sometimes our bodies hold back fluids that make us appear to not be losing.

For some of us, eating 500-800 calories a day works best. I've read others who swear on 1200-1400 a day. I think I fit into the latter. I don't like dieting and 1200 calories fills me up real good. I can live with that for another year.

Ok, that's 1 of the reasons I never logged my food b/c other than oz I don't have a calorie goal & I found it to be confusing. Less confusion for me the better. That's helps alot. Thanks!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
