I eat round 1,000 a day. 80 grams of Protein, 60 grams of carbs and 20 grams of fat.

Some days I'll splurge and eat a avocado and that'll kick the calorie count to about 1300.

I just saw my nutricionist last week. She said up to 1200 calories, 70g Protein, and to try to keep my carbs between 100-120g. I asked her about low carbs diet and she responded that "the brain needs an average of 100 to 120 g of carbs for optimum function".

How do you get 80 grams of Protein in? I'm lucky if I get 30. Thia ia my biggest struggle.

I would say below 1200. I exercise 1.5-2.5 hours a day. As previously mentioned the brain survives on carbs. When your carb level is super low the body is forced to do some crazy chemistry to produce a fuel the brain can burn. It is also very important to get your Protein in. The body needs protein to build/maintain muscle INCLUDING the heart.

I was told to watch the carbs. My nutritionist said 3 oz of Protein m, 1/2 cup of veggies and 2 tablespoons of rice or Pasta only if u have room after the Protein and veggies. I was told I can have 1 slice of whole wheat toast or 2 to 3 crackers but I can't eat just 3 crackers so I don't even bother. The carbs that I do eat are whatever is in a Protein shake or yogurt. I was banded on may 31 St and I don't think I have eaten any Pasta, rice, or bread since. I've been very lucky! I have no fill yet and a pretty good restriction. My nutritionist also said never eat more than 1 cup of food at a time!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
