Hi All, it's been close to a year and a half since my lap band surgery and am a little disappointed in myself as I have only lost 17kg. I don't blame the tool I blame myself as I hadn't stuck to the rules .. I just can't seem to stick to them these days and I've just started to exercise which I'm enjoying though constantly battling with my brain with poor food / snack choices ... ( i know whats right vs wrong food choices though its a mental struggle)

Anyone else going through this after having the surgery for some time now ?

im three months out now from banding and i know what a battle it is still.. .and for you it sounds like its pretty much ongoing. it is a mental struggle. Not an easy one at times either. i have to say i have been eating some things that i shouldnt have been having.... i certainly havent starved myself, thats for sure.

i had my second fill today. when i was weighed in today, i was 176 pounds. when i was admitted for banding i was 202 pounds. My BMI has come down from 33.8 to 29.4. im thrilled . so is the dr i might add. i dont deserve to have had the weight loss that ive achieved, i dont think... but im grateful for it . i have to really start ''weeding out'' those favorite foods of mine now. im not a sweet tooth but i do love some fatty foods sometimes... and savoury.

i hope that you can get your body moving again in more weight loss. i understand how you feel, its so easy to keep going back to those foods that we shouldnt be eating. The band certainly doesnt stop us altogether from eating the wrong foods.... it helps a lot but we still have a lot of effort we have to put into it all. i hope that you manage to lose more weight. cheers.. judy

Lots of stressful life changes in that time but got refocused about two weeks ago getting a fill next month and getting back on track. If happens I get so excited when I see people on here doing really good and it reminds me that I can do this I just to really focus. Keep your chin up you can do this too refocus and get back on the wagon with me..I moved over and and left room for you!!! :)

I don't always eat the best, but I exercise pretty consistantly and what really really helps me is logging my food and exercise. I know exactly (close) what I eat in a day and burn for calories. (i use My Fittness Pal but there are lots of different ones) It really helps keep me be accountable. I try to stick to 1200 calories. I really don't eat anything without knowing how many calories/protien are in it. If I eat crap I try to work it in to my daily 1200 calories. This really really helps me. Makes you think twice about what you are eating.

Good Luck

Ha - also sometimes when I eat something "bad" I know an extra 12 minutes on the elliptical will burn 200 calories! (ya gotta do what ya gotta do!)

I am also 1 and half years out, and yea some days its a real struggle i gave up smoking a few months ago in order to get my cosmetic surgery on my lose skin and had to have a 1mls unfill .. its been extremely hard to keep on track, but like the smoking if i had cigs in the house i would smoke them so the same with food , i have only kept on track by not purchasing any unhealthy food .. if i do have a snacky day where i eat too much even of healthy food i just burn it off on the exercise bike, burning more calories than u eat means u can at least eat more food if u have a bad day, it also makees u more accountable as to what u do eat its like having to pay the bill at the end of meal, except your bill is having to burn the calories u ate :)

Hi guys thank you for your advices and encouragement .. Sometimes it's good to hear that others are in the same boat but are doing something about it to get back on the wagon

I'm going to restart counting my calories and Protein and start using my "portion perfection plate" .. My dietitian had a good stern talk with me yesterday .. I'm over this body .. Time to re-establish realistic goals and believe in myself that I can do it !! All the best to you all ???Š

your welcome having a nice Protein Shake form Breakfast ...if I could just figure out how to keep emotions and stress from hindering my hunger that would be great.

i am 3 1/2 years out being banded. i never thought i would be saying this, gained 8 pounds and cannot get it off. i lost 90 pounds originally and did great, but i have had this issue with popcorn and cannot get it out of my system. i walk twice a day besides what i do at work and eat limited amounts of food. some days i have a hard time eating even without fills. i was hoping this forum would give me the push i need to get back on the wagon.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
