Early Period Adter Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I Feel like I've been posting a lot lately lol! Had my surgery yesterday morning and got my period yesterday, 10 days early. Anyone else experience this or know if this is something to be concerned about?

My cycle was weird the first 3 month following surgery - however, afterwards it was normal.

I had my surgery on a friday and started my period a week early on the sunday after. I think stress and trauma sometimes cause women to start earlier.

I had the same thing and started mine early after my band. I also had an experience when in hospital about 14 yrs ago and started WAY early. One of the ICU nurses told me that it is very common that for some reason women who go into hospital the majority will end up with a period whether or not it is due. I don't know whether it is adapting to the flowing hormones around the hospital or the stress or what.

I know many have heard that our cycles will start to link up with friends/coworkers.. but..

In civilizations that had multiple wives/harems etc.. part of the reason for the addition of wives all the time was due to this reason. When someone new was brought in they were on a different cycle, so would be seen in the time when all the others were on their cycle, then the new woman would end up on the same cycle as everyone else eventually who usually followed the Alpha Female. For many of these Countries is was more of a taboo to associate sexually with a wife or concubine during this time, so they brought in new ones to add to the mix. Obviously it was a never ending cycle, but interesting to say the least.

Had surgery April 3, 2012 and my period is still messed up. Multiple times a month and longer than usual. I think it is kind of normal after your body goes through lots of changes...our whole system is in shock from the surgery and your body is confused by the weight loss.

I had my surgery on Friday, about two days before my period was due. I still haven't started, and haven't had my usual warning signs either (mild cramps). I'm just waiting for the throwdown, though, since I have no clue when it will start up again.

Totally normal to have your cycles thrown off because of stress, trauma (like surgery), etc. Nothing to be worried about.

I'm glad to hear this. I have not had my cycle since the week before my surgery, so it is about 2 weeks late. As far as I'm concerned, it can stay away. Glad to hear it is normal to be thrown off.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
