Uhc Waived The 6 Month Waiting Period

Recommended Posts

If you have UHC they may waive the 6 month waiting period.

I saw my Dr last August 10 or there about, had my surgery Sept 20.

The total bill was $63,000. My part, $0

Wonder why self pay is generally under $20,000 and insured is $50,000+???

What made them waive the 6 months waiting period? Was it bc you BMI was high?

Does that apply to the UHC Community Plan? My sister has that one but she can't find a surgeon that would take her insurance. Any suggestions in NJ would be greatly appreciated.

lucky you....I have UHC and still have to do the 6 month - but 5th appt is on July 2, then August 3rd is last appointment and i think i see the surgeon then - then it's the waiting game while they send all the data to UHC for approval (I've already contacted the bariatric group within my insurance program so I'm all set there). So I am hoping to have the surgery late August or early Sept. Would love to drop 30 pounds by the time the holidays roll around - maybe I'll even allow my picture to be taken...ha ha.

I have UHC and I had to do the 6 month restricted process. They also screwed me over by making a clerical error which 'delayed' my initial surgery of June 13th, took them a month to get it straightened out. I am scheduled for surgery Wednesday, July 25th.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
