Hi everyone,

Recently I had my lap band removed in an emergency surgery. This was just a week ago. I lost almost 80 pounds and deep down I am sad that it had to be removed. I was very sick, vomiting all the time. Insurance stopped paying for doctor visits which kept me away from the doctor. I barely ate anything. I was severly dehydrated, my stomach tied itself around the band and every organ in my body was affected.

I am happy it is gone..its kind of bitter sweet almost. I really cant tell you how I feel except that I am afraid to gain this weight back. I am not really eating anything. I am depressed, and still recovering.

I just don't know how to feel anymore....

I just wanted to share.

Do they have any other options you can consider? Do you think you've learned enough along the way that you can keep up the good habits? I know you can find a way to get through this - I'm just sorry for your struggle. Don't give up!! Best of luck to you.

wow that sounds really scary. I've read quite a few stories on here that really scare me. I have had my band since June 2008 and no problems yet..thank goodness. I can't imagine having problems constantly and not feeling well. I am sorry to hear you had those problems. Just remember that you are still alive and be thankful that they caught the problem in enough time. I'm sure you can still do well once you recover. Weight Watchers is actually one of the best systems that I used that worked for me when I actually followed it. Good luck to you!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
